DESCRIPTION:The Cody Sisters band is the very heart of contemporary acoustic Folk and Bluegrass music in Colorado\, the United States and the UK. Their propulsive instrumental solos and warm harmonies combine to grip the listener. Along with their bass player Will Pavilonis\, sisters Megan (guitar\, mandolin\, vocals) and Maddie (guitar\, banjo\, vocals) have forged a new sound that has no equivalent match in the acoustic world today.\n\nIn May of 2023\, The Cody Sisters released their self-titled EP marking a new beginning for the band. It is their first release since parting ways with their former image of “young girls in a family band” and it portrays a sense of maturity and musical understanding that reveals a new dimension to their artistic expression. They set out to explore new sounds and styles while still holding true to their bluegrass roots\, and they have done just that. This new music is an invitation to connect\, to feel\, and to journey together through original lyrics and captivating instrumental arrangements.\n\nThe Cody Sisters have a sound that is original\, exhilarating\, and heartwarming all at the same time. With strong ties to traditional American acoustic music\, they continue to stun their audiences both in the US and abroad.

After living in New York City\, he returned to Eau Claire. Catch this masterful and swinging pianist in action leading his group. \nRenowned bassist Jeremy Boetcher swiftly rose to prominence\, captivating audiences nationwide with his remarkable versatility and musical prowess. In recent years\, he has graced the global stage\, touring extensively with icons like Sean Carey and Richard Johnson. Currently\, Anthony resides in Wisconsin’s central Driftless Region after a decade long stint in Milwaukee mainly as a jazz pianist where he continues to visit to play as a soloist\, with his piano trio\, and other projects – including Father Sky (Heart-song medicine music for the masses)\, W!TH (future-pop duo) and Fraktal Frank (experimental/production moniker).

SUMMARY:LIVE MUSIC: Emily Watkins
DESCRIPTION:An Eau Claire native\, Emily has been an active member of the Chippewa Valley music scene for over ten years.  For four semesters\, she played guitar in the Grammy-nominated University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble I under the direction of Professor Robert Baca. During her time in the band\, UWEC’s Jazz I was awarded the prestigious Downbeat Award for Best Undergraduate College Big Band. Since 2012\, she has been the guitar player for the Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra. In 2019\, Emily also had the opportunity to attend the week-long New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp in Kalamazoo\, MI. During her time there\, she was given one-on-one coaching by members of the Grammy-award winning vocal ensemble The New York Voices. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThough she is an experienced jazz musician\, Emily is well-versed in a variety of styles of guitar playing\, including funk\, country/folk\, classical\, blues\, and many varieties of rock music. Since 2018\, she has been the guitarist\, booking manager\, and co-arranger for Uncommon Denominator\, an 8-piece variety band that has been voted Best Cover Band in the Chippewa Valley in the Volume One Reader’s Poll for the last five consecutive years. As a lover of theatre\, Emily has also played in pit orchestras for almost thirty different musicals\, playing guitar primarily and doubling on banjo\, mandolin. Most recently\, she held the guitar chair for the storied Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre based in Grand Lake\, CO in the summer of 2021. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmily also has a passion for music education\, with almost ten years of private teaching experience. Currently\, she maintains a private guitar studio on the north side of Eau Claire\, welcoming students of all ages\, abilities\, and experience levels. Emily is able to teach a variety of styles\, ranging from beginner technique and basic note reading to jazz comping and advanced music theory. She also teaches ukulele and beginner bass guitar.

Based out of Eau Claire\, Wisconsin\, this unique 5-piece consists of university students and friends: Hannah Durham (Vocals)\, Jake Shockman (Winds)\, Zach Luginbill (Keys)\, Fletcher Myhre (Percussion)\, and Esme Olstadt (Bass). Combining their individuality with their shared love of jazz\, improvisation\, and creation\, the quintet is bringing their skills and sounds to the downtown Eau Claire area this summer. Taking inspiration from multiple eras and styles\, as well as from one another\, the group has a little something for everyone to enjoy. And while they’ll be looking back to pay homage to the greats that laid the foundations for jazz music\, HINDSIGHT is focused on the bright future ahead of them!
