DESCRIPTION:Lifetime musician and writer\, Irie\, brings her passionate vocals and her lyrical style together to forage a blend of indie pop/rock ballads. Born as Irelyn Ulrich in Madison\, Wisconsin\, she was thrown into a life of creative thinking from a young age. The daughter of a Creative Writer and English Professor\, Irie was raised reading 10 books a night before bed\, and her exposure to outside the box thinking from a young age set the stage for her future career as a musician. Inspired by the likes of music icons like Sinead O’Connor and Alanis Morissette as well as more recent stars such as Renee Rapp and Maggie Rogers\, Irie never stops writing music. When she isn’t playing music with her friends or waiting tables at The Lakely\, she is hunkered down in her living room spinning words and melodies into the perfect arrangement. Studying at UWEC to earn her degree in recording arts and songwriting\, she is excited to see where this long and winding road of expression takes her.

DESCRIPTION:Sliced Bread Jug Band plays fun\, funky 1920s & 30s vintage jug band music\, old-time blues and country\, and a bit of “jug-o-lated” rock-n-roll\, as well as our own only slightly demented original material.\nJug band music can be cantankerous and sometimes hilarious\, diversely armed with guitar\, uke\, the occasional banjo\, and a seemingly improbable array of homemade instruments. Including\, of course\, jugs. \nSliced Bread is a loose musical collective of approximately five (but who’s counting?) jug band aficionados and/or free range geezers. Our homes\, haunts\, and hangouts are strewn across a wide swath of the Chippewa Valley and Lake Pepin region of Western Wisconsin (what we call the “Greater Rockanstock” area). \nWe’ve been playing together in one form or another for 20+ years now. We’re grizzled veterans of the legendary annual Minneapolis Battle of the Jug Bands\, and we have graced (or bumbled about on) many area stages.

DESCRIPTION:Jason Collins plays alto and baritone saxophone. He leads the Jason Collins Septet and is a member of the Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra\, The Sue Orfield Horns\, and Weapons of Brass Destruction. He has studied with Dennis Plies\, Don Lanphere\, Warren Rand and Renato Caranto. He also writes music for his own band the Jason Collins Septet and Weapons of Brass Destruction\, and is a member of the Chippewa Valley Composers Association. His music incorporates odd meter and melodic layering inspired by Thelonious Monk\, Dave Holland and Charles Mingus. He performs at Phoenix Park\, Owen Park\, Menomonie Public Library and Mabel Tainter Theater. He teaches English at Menomonie High School and lives with his family in the city of Menomonie with an ever growing flower garden taking over the backyard.
