Microweddings and Minimonies at The Oxbow Hotel

It’s no secret that we love intimate events; and with a property that encourages and conveys intimacy so well, how could we not? You’ll find it in our nooks and spaces, in the warm – yet modern – lighting, and in the atmosphere we’ve created. Some of our most-beloved intimate gatherings are microweddings and minimonies — that is, small wedding celebrations of thirty or less and mini-ceremonies.

Now more than ever, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, couples are opting to have smaller weddings with fewer guests… but that doesn’t mean that they are sacrificing their dream wedding. In fact, they are doing the opposite. Many couples are postponing their weddings and instead holding a minimony — a mini ceremony — on what would have been their original wedding date. This allows them to still get married and have a very special, intimate experience, while continuing to plan for their “sequel wedding” — the larger, full experience wedding that they will still have at some point after the pandemic with all of their guests — in the future.

Couples who choose to have a minimony are doing it with flare; they’re inviting a very small group of guests, generally no more than ten, and they’re curating a very intentional experience culled from the design of their sequel wedding. The minimony might include special touches, such as a small cake from their wedding chef, flowers from their wedding florist and having their planned wedding photographer on hand to capture the experience.

At The Oxbow Hotel, you’ll find the perfect place to welcome your closest family and friends for a minimony or a microwedding. Our venue and boutique hotel offer one-of-a-kind details and a destination atmosphere — so even if you’re a local, you’ll feel like you’re worlds away. The Oxbow Hotel features multiple indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception options, boutique hotel rooms for your family and friends, and feeling of authenticity that will leave you, and your guests, with memories to cherish for years to come.

And hey, while you’re here, why not turn your minimony into a minimoon… a small, but no less wonderful, honeymoon! Sounds just about perfect, right? We think so, too.

The Oxbow Hotel Receives Mention in Architectural Digest

Friday, October 16, 2020

In a recent article from Architectural Digest by author Kristine Hansen, 6 Boutique Hotels Owned by Famous Musicians and Infused With Their Style, it comes as no surprise that The Oxbow makes the list.

“The cute city of Eau Claire is home to a downtown splashed in murals and calls itself the Indie Capital of the Midwest. Along with the publisher of a local magazine and director of a local arts center, Vernon opened the Oxbow Hotel in 2016, reviving a midcentury motor lodge as a hip stay with 30 rooms. “

The Annual Supper Club Celebration is BACK and better than ever this January at The Lakely! For two weeks only, beginning Monday, January 14, through Sunday, January 27, 2019, The Lakely will once again completely transform into a classic, (and maybe even a little quirky) supper club, bringing a truly authentic Wisconsin experience to downtown Eau Claire. Order from a menu of Wisconsin classics made with local, high-quality ingredients, and explore modern interpretations of traditional supper club fare. Add in some timeless traditions including live jazz, old fashioneds, relish trays, popovers, pink squirrels, and you’ve got yourself the makings of one heck of a night.

CALL NOW: Make your dinner reservations now by calling The Lakely’s NEW reservation phone line at 715.559.8553. If you don’t get through right away, please leave us a message and include your name, phone number, desired date and time of arrival, as well as the number in your party, and we’ll get back to you to when the restaurant opens to confirm your reservation. Feel free to text in your reservation request as well!

Get Your Game On!

This year, The Lakely is taking the Supper Club transformation one step further and over-hauling The Gallery, located just steps from the restaurant and bar. This space, which is normally home to the hanging art of local artists, will become the Supper Club Game Room, featuring classic video games, cribbage boards, lounge seating and, you guessed it, a pool table! Guests are invited to come for dinner, hang out in the Game Room with a Grasshopper, or even just lounge in the lobby with an Old Fashioned.

We’ve got a case of nostalgia, and you will, too.
