Lakely Loves… Lazy Monk Brewing

Come join the party as The Lakely welcomes one of our best neighbors here in downtown Eau Claire…Lazy Monk Brewing! Founded in 2010 by Leos and Theresa Frank, Lazy Monk set out to craft traditional Bohemian and German-style lagers and, nearly a decade later, they’re still hard at work putting out some of those same styles, although they’ve also added quite a few other brews into the mix over the years.

For this dinner, The Franks will be on hand to talk in detail about their brewing operation; touching on its history, its wonderful new(ish) bier hall on the Chippewa River and what’s in store for the future. They’ll also be guiding us on a tasting of a half-dozen of their brews, including everything from their tried-and-true standbys to some of their wonderful seasonal offerings. Meanwhile, Chef Nathan Berg and his talented staff will be presenting a six-course dinner, with each course specifically paired to one of Lazy Monk’s incredible brews. It’s an exciting collaboration between a locally-focused restaurant and its closest brewery!

Lakely Loves… Morels!

Get ready for a big one folks! The month of May is upon us and in the woods of Western Wisconsin, that means it’s almost time for morels to emerge!! To celebrate the annual appearance of this mysterious, oft-elusive, but altogether amazing fungus, we’re putting it center stage (er… plate) for a six-course Lakely Loves…

On Wednesday, May 22nd, we’ll be hosting Lakely Loves…Morels. Chef Nathan Berg will be creating a six-course dinner, each course of which will prominently feature the distinctly earthy joys of this edible treasure. An avid morel hunter himself, Nathan will also be sharing some of his knowledge about morels, including everything from foraging tips to the secrets behind cooking with – and preservation of — these short-lived beauties.

This dinner was a quick sell-out last year, so you’ll want to be sure to get your name on our reservation sheet as quickly as possible.

Lakely Loves… Foraged Foods!

Join us in July for a dinner that celebrates and showcases some of the best ingredients indigenous to the Midwest, gathered by local foragers and farmers. Chef Eric Mendoza and his team will curate a special six-course dinner highlighting these ingredients, taking you, taste by taste, through an experience that is inherently, here.

Lakely Loves… Tomatoes!

It’s always a special time of year when tomatoes begin to ripen on the vine – and this year, with the delay in the growing season, we were beginning to wonder when that time of year would be! But alas, it has arrived, and we are thrilled to announce that this August we will host Lakely Loves… Tomatoes!

Chef Eric and his team will use hand-selected tomatoes from local growers to create a special 6-course dinner that you don’t want to miss! The Lakely bar will open at 5:00pm for drinks, with dinner beginning at 6:00pm.
